There was a large attendance at the opening o£ the Petone Tennis Club's season, The club captain, Mr. H. Hoskin, remarked on the good condition of the courts, two of which had been completely resurfaced, and lie welcomed new members. In welcoming the club's president, Mr. W. G. L'odder, he referred to his retirement, and said the Petone works of the Gear Meat Company, were a monument to him. ! 11 ,Mr, Lodder thanked Mi.iloskia lor his '
remarks, and said lie hoped the coming season would be a pleasant one.
Among those present were Mrs. R. C. Kirk, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Burns, and Mr. and Mrs. Stitchbury, Mrs. Stitehbury being a former club champion.
