The ladies of the Brooklyn Methodist , Guild held another of their musical afternoons in the classroom recently. Mrs. W. Coventry and Mrs. Soal sang delightfully, and were heartily thanked. Mrs. Soal also took the solo in the community sing which followed. Tea was served later. "The New Morality." , , ■' A most interesting social afternoon is being arranged by • the Women's Social Progress Movement, to take place at St. James Hall, Woburn Road, Lower Hutt, early next week. The speaker will be Canon Percival James, who .will take for his subject "The New Morality." Songs will be sung by Miss Marjorie Bennie. Mrs. Cleary will also contribute- items, and Mrs. Craig MacKenzio will give recitations. A most enjoyable afternoon is promised. Dance for St. Joseph's Orphanage. The social committee recently formed for the purpose of raising funds for St. Joseph fs, Orphanage, \ Upper Hutt, ' is concluding its campaign next Thurs- ■ day evening, when a. charity dance will be held at St. Francis Hall, Hill Street. ' An excellent orchestra will be in attendance, aud patrons will be assured ■of a very enjoyable evening. As this dance is for a worthy cause, the committee appeals to all sympathisers of the orphanage to help.
