WAR RELIEF
EX-IMPERIAL MEN
A meeting of the executive committee of the War Relief Association of Wellington was held today. Mr.'C. M. Luke presided. The chairman said, with reference to the resignation of J&r. Harrison as a member of the organisation, that at the request of two members of the executive committee, Mr. Harrison, had agreed to be co-opted for service. on all committees.
The chairman said he had received a letter from Mr. L. O. S. Tripp, chairman of the association, in which the writer stated that he hoped to be back in Wellington from England about the end of November. Mr; Tripp also mentioned that he and Colonel Stewarthad consulted the authorities of the British war relief organisation with reference to the possibility of funds being available for the assistance of Imperial exsoldiers in New Zealand. Mr. Tripp said there were only slight hopes of a grant being made for ex-Imperial soldiers in the Dominion.
The emergency committee reported that it had dealt with 133 claims; and the applications committee reported that it had disposed of 226 applications.
Mr. Alexander Macintosh submitted the, report of the finance committee-, which showed that the funds available for working on by the association amounted to £18,445 6s 7d.
The several reports were adopted.
