MOTORIST INJURED

CAIiTEJRTON, This Day

Shortly before 11-o'cjock yesterday morn: ing the up Wellington mail train collided^ with a motor-car being* driv'eri by Mr. Robert Campbell across, a private .crossing to the residence of "Mr. ~F:i Jones, jus.t north of the Matairawa Railway Station! Evidently the' driver, who was the only occupant, of the car, failed to notice the approach of the 'train;-and as he-turned to cross the line was caught by the engine. A wind "was blowing at the 'time, and it had been raining. The train was travelling at a moderate speed. The impact caught thfe car on the driver's side and tossed it right side up into the drain alongside. The doors were wrenched off and the occupant was thrown on to the side of the live. He suffered severe fhock and cuts on the side of the head, and his right leg was fractured.'' He. was takou to Carterton, where he received medical attention, and then by the train to Masterton, where he was admitted to the hospital, Jhe^ar was damaged
