A warding to the relatives if deceased ,NeW :.- Zealand soldiers to -be cautious >in the "sending of money to unofficial oversea organisation*'for the purchase of so-called "rolls of honour",' was issued, today!by the Minister of Internal 'Affairs (the Hon. J. A. Young). .The Minister said he had: been advised that the organisations'were still operating, and in this connection he t directed public attention to » circular which had been'received from the Imperial War Graves Commission. This stated:- "Numerous complaints have been received concerning organisations in Prance which send through the post copies of a "roll of honour" or "golden emblem" to relatives of soldiers buried in, the British war.-cemeteries or commemorated on memorials to the-miss-ing'. The "roll of'honour*' or "golden emblem/ consists of a printed sheet having photograpa of certain British or Dominion monuments and cemeteries upon it, and pasted in the centre, a slip cut from the'offidial registers published, by the commission containingthe name and particulars, of the soldier in whonie the addressee is interested. It is accompanied by a printed circular letter inviting the recipient to send 2s 6d.' "In1 view of the annoyance and distress which this practice is causing many relatives, the commission wishes to emnhasise that, those. who are unwilling'recipients of such communications need- feel under no kind of obligation to purchase, the 'roll of honour' or 'golden emblem' or to put themselves to any trouble or expense in the matter."
