REPORTS AND RESULTS
Mr. Fred. G. Dunn, New Zealand Attorney for Clutha Development, Ltd., advises of the receipt of the following production report of the Bulolo dredges, New Guinea, for August:— "For month of August total gross production amounted to 12,134 ounces of bullion containing 8043 ounces of fine gold from 488,900 cubic yards. Estimated working profit 6433 ounces fine gold. The above production is equivalent to £60,337 10s and working profit.to £48,247 10s on the basis of £7 10s (Australia) per fine ounce of gold. Dredge No. 3 will probably be in commission about the middle of October, when it will dig flotation for about one month before reaching payable gravel." BELL HOOPER CROMWELL. Bell Hooper Cromwell Gold, Ltd., in its report for the week ended September 16, says the main' face drive was advanced 22 feet on a rising bottom, and showing fair gold prospects. No. 2 cross drive E advanced 24 feet, and a little gold is seen on the bottom. No. 2 cross drive W was advanced 10 feet, showing fairly good gold. No. 1 cross drive E advanced 14 feet, and shows much improved prospects of gold. The No. 3 stope drive going out W nearest to the main face, was advanced 24 feet, showing good gold for that distance. Only development and prospecting work is' yet in hand, and a total of 12oz ldwt of gold was washed up for the week. BEN LEDI SLUICING. The provisional directors of the Ben Ledi Sluicing Company have allotted the shares in the company. The. claim to be worked is situated in the Domett survey district at the eastern end of Dansey« Pass, 18 miles from Naseby and 38 miles from Oamaru, and comprsies 100 acres special claim and 200 acres held under prospecting licence. The capital of the company is £12,000. Scattered parts of the area have been intermittently worked l>y individual miners on a small scale. The company has been promoted by New Zealand Mining Investments, Ltd. The provisional directorate of the Ben Ledi Company comprises Messrs. A. G. Familton, A. R. Blank, H. A. Martin, and H. McQuade (Oainaru). MATAKI. The secretary of the Mataki Gold Dredging, Ltd., which is operating at Murchison, is advised that the dredge has now worked its way into old ground. The south end of the cut still carries fair wash, and patches of fairly good wash are scattered through the worked ground. Good headway is being made, and it is expected that the dredge will be through the old ground in three or four days, when it will be turned downstream. From that time new ground should be treated for improved returns. The return for last week was 270z Bdwt, compared with 220z in the previous week.
