ACTION FOR SLANDER

BULLI BY-ELECTION SEQUEL
SYDNEY, September 20.
Albert Charles Willis, former Agent* General in London for New SoutK Wales, has begun an action for slander, claiming £20,000 damages from John Thomas Lang, Leader of the State Opposition. .
The suit arises from the Bulli byelection campaign. Plaintiff alleges that Mr. Lang addressed public meetings at which he inferred Mr. Willia was under the domination and influence of political opponents .of th^ Labour movement, which seripusly prejudiced his candidature as a Labourite; also, that an attempt wag made to hound him out of public life. .
Plaintiff's counsel made frequent re» ference to Mr. Lang's debenture fof. £13,000 oyer the "Labour Daily" newspaper, and said that he would prove bjrj cheques that £5000 which Mr. Lang said he had advanced to that newspaper had been drawn from party funds. The hearing was adjourned.
