The Wellington Presbytery.at its meeting on Tuesday evening sustained and transmitted to the Auckland-Presbytery a call from the Khantlallah Presbyterian Church to the Rt. Rev. Donald David Scott, Moderator of ,the Presbyterian General Assembly, and minister of One-, hung'a, Auckland. The call hadbeen signed by 158 members from a communion roll .0f..203, and a form o£ concurrence had been signed by f>B adherents.
Messrs. Stanley Mirams and (i. M. Pot- ; tinger appeared as commissioners from the Khaudallah congregation in support of the call, which they''declared to be hearty- and unanimous. ■ ,
Mr. Scott has been for the past twentyeight years in the Onehunga charge, and has gradually achieved a wide reputation for his learning arid careful scholarship in all branches of theology and philosophy, as well as in general and especially. NewZealand literature. He is the owner of one of the best miuisteriallibraries in the Dominion. He has been for many years the highly respected^ clerk of the Presbytery of Auckland.' By reason of fine qiiali-r ties of friendship and wise judgment, he has long been .held in the highest esteem throughout the church, and this was worthily recognised in his election to the Moderatorial chair of. the General Assembly in February, of this year.'•■ He has also placed his learning a!t the wider disposal of the church in many articles for, religious publications, and has been a regular .lecturer1 at summer- schools of theology. He is, at present the regular contributor of a survey of theological literature ttf the New Zealand "Journal of Theology," aud is-a member of its editorial, committee. His eldest son, Mr. 'H. S. Scott, M.A., is at present pursuing advanced studies for the ministry in Cambridge, having passed though the Theological Hall in Dunedin. At one time, many calls were addressed to Mr. Scott, but strong pressure from his parishioners in Onehunga has previolsly prevailed in inducing him to remain with them. Should he.accept this present call, his induction will probably not take place till early in November.
