Honeymoon At Prince's Ranch. A Press Association cablegram from Calgary, states- that after spending their honeymoon on the Prince of Wales's ranch, Mr. George Wood and his bride will sail for Australia and New Zealand by the Aorangi on August 16. The bride is. a daughter of Admiral Sir Lionel Halsey, Comptroller of th« Prince's Household. Shop Day Tomorrow. A sale of jams, cakes, etc., will be held tomorrow in the Queen. Carnival shop, Lambton Quay, in aid of the City Mission Queen. Artillery Ball. The annual ball organised by the Artillery units in Wellington is being held this year as usual. The date fixed is at the end of the present month, and invitations are now being issued. The function in past years has been most successful, and no efforts are being spared to make this year's ball even more enjoyable thau previously. The ladies' committee, under Mrs. F. Symon, is again assisting the general conimittco with tho arrangements. Novel Money-Raising Scheme. Charitable and kindred associations tire still seeking somo new device that will attract public attention and money (writes the Sydney correspondent of the Melbourne "Argus"). Lady Gordon, who, bofore sho married Mr. Justice Gordon, of tho New South. Wales Supremo Court, had achieved considerable musical success, being known as1 "tho Welsh,singer, 3' is one of the many deeply .concerned, in raising money for benevolent purposes. She declares that tho latest plan should bo a great' success. "Ithink it will bo very funny," she said. "The idea came to Lady Game when walking in her garden at. Government House. She communicated it to others specially interested in improving tho finances of tho St. John Ambulance Association, and it wag adopted. It is a simple competition for "pictures painted by people who have never painted." Tho Governor-General and Lady Isaacs will submit pictures; tho Governor' (Sir Philip Game) will paint our, and orhcr nrtists working for the first time on any canvas or Bristol board will ineliirlc Sir Henry Braddon aud Sir Samuel Walder.
