KELBURN CABLE TRAMWAY
The change-over of the Kelburn cable car service from steam to eleetrie power does not affect the haulage system, the gear for which remains tho same as before, but the hauling power is now supplied by a 150 h.p. electric motor, with another of the same power in reserve as a standby, together with the necessary automatic control equipment. When the new system is fully working, the inotonnen on. tho cars will bo able to control the starting and stopping. The two cars will still be tied together by a tail-rope, and any operations started by tho one motorman will be duplicated in the other's car, except in the case of Starting the cars, when unless both cars' switches are in the starting position neither can start. The .rate at which the cars reach their full speed is governed automatically, -and does not rest with the motdrman. The plan was installedj by the National Electrical and Engineering Company, Ltd., who are the agents for the manufacturers, the British Thom-son-Houston Company, of Bugby.
