OLYMPIC GOLD CUP RACE
v The third competition for the Olympic gold cup and Phipson Trophy will be; held this year on October 14 at; Trontham racecourse. The gold cup is; competed for by teams of five runners, and the Phipson Trophy goes to theindividual winner. The race has at-. tracted good fields in tho .past two, years, and has been popular with both ; | spectators and competitors. Anyone desiring to compete in this race should commence special training right away,, as no one can expect to put up .a good show without a good deal of special, preparation. Unlike the Marathon, tho courso of four laps is comparar lively soft going. There,; are ( quite a number of fences and gates in 'the complete eoiirse,, so tho whole ,race calls for general fitness more than for speed.' ' ' "■'' '■' '
