The campaign instituted' by the Lower Hutt Borough Council to indueo ' ratepayers to make early-payment ;of their rates has. had excellent > .results. The amount collected-up., to July 31, 1922, was. £2325, and up to'tho-sanie date this year over double that amount has been paid, the actual figures being £4735.' This prompt payment will bo of grCat assistance to the borough, enabling it to keep down its overdraft and save interest payments.
