Silbc.ry, secretary of tho Pctone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Board, last ovoning, by the various organisations with, which he has been associated. Mr. J. Kerf presided/ and there was a largo attendance. The Mayor Q*1l: D. McKenzie) presented Mr. Silbory -with a gold.-pencil oil behalf of the various organisations. Eulogistic remarks wore made about Mr. Silbory 's services to the district. The- speakers were Messrs. W. Langridge (Potono Beautifying and Toreshore Society), J. P. Gaynor (Pctone Piro Board), J, Ash (Central School), J. C. Burns (Central School Ex-Scholars' Association), Lowry (Petone Bowling Club), C. Nisson (Petone. Bugby rootball Club), G. Findlay (Petone Civic Association), D. Simpson (Potono Methodist Church), W. G. Lodder (chairman of the Gas Board), E. T. X Hogg (member of tho Gas Board), and V» Jacobson. Musical items were given during the evening.
