COUNTY CAPTAINS
BAN BODY-LINE BOWLING
GENTLEMEN'S AGREEMENT
"HEAD-HIGH DELIVERY"
United Press Association— By Electric Tele--1 graph—Copyright. (Received August 1, noon) LONDON, July 31. A. W. Carr, on behalf of Notts, and E. W. Dawson, on behalf of Leicestershire, have agreed not to employ bodyline bowling in the present match, as Voce and Smith on Saturday caused the ball to pass the batsmen head high. Carr says: "I prefer to describe the deliveries to which we take exception as 'head-high deliveries.' Somebody will be killed if such bowling continues. Dawson and I consider the game more pleasant if it is stopped."
The Notts-Leicestershire match is being played at Nottingham. With Larwood out. of action, Notts have to rely on Voce as the "spearhead of their attack." Smith, the other bowler mentioned in the cablegram, has been getting a lot- of wickets again for Leicestershire. In view of Carr's remarks, it is interesting to , recall that the Notts captain intimated at the outset of the season that he would employ the form of attack adopted by Larwood and Voce in Australia.
