PEDIGREE STOCK
THE EMBARGO QUESTION
(From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, June 23. Lord Bledisloe's recent remarks on tho embargo on live stock find an echo in the important London journal "Tho Field." . "Alono among the Dominions," says the editorial writer, "New Zealand has not yet recognised the London quarantine station. No pedigree stock can bo shipped from this country to New Zealand, although, as Lord Bledisloe, .the Governor-General, has lately pointed out, the Dominion's herds- and flocks need rejuvenation from the fount-head in this country. There do not appear to be good reasons for New Zealand's attitude, since the quarantine station has proved thoroughly satisfactory as a means of making sure that no animal sent from our Bhores could possibly carry the germs of foot and mouth disease. New Zealand's interests are doubly safeguarded by the long sea voyage to the Dominion. It may be pointed out that New Zealand expects to enjoy all the advantages of our home market while refusing any facilities to our breeders of pedigree stock who seek a market for well-bred animals in tho Dominion."
