CLEAN AND FAST GAME
Hutt and Wesley gave a very fine exhibition of hockey on the Hutt Recreation Ground. Although Hutt won by 5 goals to nil, the game was not as one-sided as may appea.r from the score. From start to finish both teams played clean hockey of a high standard, and this is reflected in the almost total absence of the whistle. Seldom were the referees called upon to penalise. Wesley made the most of their opportunities, but Hutt's halves and backs were too strong for them. Hntt also combined better, and this enabled them to break down Wesley's defence. As usual, Phillips played a sound game. He was always in position, and scored three of Hutt's goals. Bishop and Smallwood were Hutt's other scorers. Although hardpressed at times, the Wesley backs played a creditable game; Frcthey was outstanding for the Blues. Hutt led 2-nil at halftime.
Mr. B. Ginger and Dr. A. F. Hickey were the referees.
