WIN FOR WELLINGTON

Wellington and University played a fast, cleau, and even game, which resulted in a wiu for the former team by 4 goals to 2. For the greater part of the first spellj play was of an up aud down nature, with Wellington having slightly the better of the exchanges. At. times Wellington were in a good scoring position, but the students' defence was very sound. Ferguson scored for Wellington shortly before half-time, but University equalised a minute or two later as a result of a fine solo run by Kemp, who centered to Struthers, who scored from a lying-down position. It was a fine shot. The students took the lead from the bully at the start of the second spell, one cf the forwards scoring. There was such a scramble that it was difficult to know who finally sent the ball into the net. For a time University had a territorial advantage, but a fine breakaway by- the Wellington forwards enabled Rushbridge to score. Wellington continued tp press, and a little later the same player scored again. Play became fast towards thefinish, University making some determined but ineffective attacks. Wellington's fourth goal was scored by Neate, vrhs sent the ball into the net with an excellent shot. Although Wellington managed to hold their opponents satisfactorily, their defence was not as sttong as usual. University played a sound game throughout. Messrs. W. Keys and W. Purves were the referees.
