MIRAMAR AND HUTT

Miramar gained a victory over Hutt at the Hutt Recreation Ground. The game was an excellent one in parts. The packs were evenly matched, and they had a willing tussle, but the Miramar backs were definitely the better. The first try was gained by Miramar. Oldfield worked, the blind side of the scrum in his owii twentyfive, and a pretty piece of in-and-out passing between this player and Parfitt ended in the latter's scoring-. Lochore converted. Hutt equalised when from a slashing forward rush Saulbrey scored, McCann converting the try. Miramar forged ahead again when Johnson scored after a run of twenty yards. Lochore converted with (i. beautiful kick from-veil out. The score at half-time was: Miramar 10, Hutt 5.

A fine piece of play gained Miramar's first try in the second spell, the ball being handled by about ten players before Johnson touched down near the corner flag. Hutt's try was gained in much the same manner as in the first spell, but this time McCann was..the scorer, and he converted his own try. The result was not beyond doubt when Lawer scored for Miramar after all the backs had handled the ball. The final score was: Miramar 16, Hutt 10. Mr. B. Matthews controlled the game.
