McVILLY SHIELD RACE

The second of the series of team races for the McVilly Shield is to be held on Saturday ne::t. The following riders have been selected by the Poneke Club:—

A team: Ces. Ericsson,;,F. Blackett, R, Ulmer, K. Nankivell, W. Laskey; emer gency, TV. Mitchell. B team: J. Piunti, G. Piunti, H. Huston, T. Udall, P. Percival; . emergency, E. Thomas. '

C team: J. Bolton, C. Hurcombe, W. Baillie, R. Evans, C. Sparkes; emergency, D. Evans.

being 2-all. The referees were Messrs. F. Moore and S. Chesterfield.'

Hinekoa beat Colyton fairly easily in a game in which some good play was shown by both- teams' at times. Messrs. A. H. Packer and E. A. ■ Garlick carried the whistles: H.S.O.G. and Ohakea. played a more even game, the winners being just a little the! better. Mrs. K. Bailey and Mi'.T. Tricklebank controlled the game. In Hie mens' games Colyton had an easy victory over Pirates. As theseiteams are at the top and bottom of the championship ladder respectively, this was not unexpected. Messrs. A. H. Johnson and G. A. Macleocl were the referees. A much more even, interesting, and exciting game was played by Wanderers and Tokorangi.' Some very fine work was put in by both teams. Messrs. S. Chesterfield and E. A. Garlick were the referees.
