INTER-ISLAND RUGBY
EXTRA MATCH PROPOSAL
PLANS FOR ENGLISH TOUR
Consideration has been given by the New Zealand Rugby Union's management, committee to a suggestion by the Hawke's Bay Union that an extra intcvi Island Rugby football match be--played this year, with an age limit of 23 years set for the participants. While appreciating the worth of tho suggestion, the committee has decided that the match be not played this year but that it be recommended as a fixture for next year. The committee was influenced in its decision by difficulty in fitting in a date for the match this season, and in consideration of the fact that a New Zealand team will not be going to England until 1936.
The question of a visit by a team from Stanford University-next year, representations for which have boon made by a leading Califorman Rugby Union official, as previously outlined in "The Post," has also been dealt with by the New Zealand Rugby Union's management committee. The finding in this case is that the present time is inopportuno for a visit as suggested, arid since tho proposal is- that Stanford should also visit Australia, the decision of tho New Zealand Union is being conveyed to the Australian Rugby authorities.-
There is the possibility, however, ofthe 1936 Now Zealand team returning from England via Canada and California and playing matches there early in 1937. The New Zealand Union's committee will most likely make a suggestion to this effect.
