YA STATIONS
TESTING AT AUCKLAND
Testing at the various sites in Auckland over which the New Zealand Radio Broadcasting Board has options for the new location ot IYA will be commenced at the cud ot next week and will probably last for three or four weeks. An interesting feature of the tests will be that while they are in progress the board's engineers nt other places in Auckland and outside the city will gauge the strength of tho signals on modern ii.ld-strength measuring equipment recently received from England. I Asked today when it waa proposed to increase the power of 2YA, Mr. E. C. Hands, general manager of the Broadcasting Board, j-aid that that was a long way off. The extent of the increase was problematical at present; so much depended upon the results received from the other stations. The board is now considering tenders for the erection of buildings to house the new station on Banks Peninsula to replace the present 3YA station.
