The chairman of , the WellingtonStock Exchange informs "The Post", that the members of that exchange, endorse the statement of the Minister of Finance refuting a rumour that the Government contemplates issuing a sub. stantial'loan in the near future at a. rate over _ per cent. When the arrangements for the recent .conversion; of Government loans were being coii;' sidered, he said, tho representatives of tho stock, exchanges strongly recom-. mended that the issue of "over the counter" loan should be suspended until the market for the converted stock and bonds had settled. This was immediately agreed to by the Minister, and had not been departed from. The result had been that the- market had been freed from the influence of new issues and had settled at a little- over par, inclusive of accrued interest, for 4 per cent. loan.. ■ -. .
