The question of • hawking at Eastbourne was considered by tho Eastbourne Borough Council on Thursday evening. The opinion. was expressed that the Eastbourne Batepayers' Association could assist the trades people by conducting a. campaign to discourage 'hawkers, and the council decided to help as far as possible by strict enforcement of the licensing of itinerant traders. Wokingham, in Berkshire, has borne no fe\ver than 32 different variations of its name; but on the oldest documents extant the. spelling is the: same as th^t in use today.
