UNLICENSED RABBITS

(Special to the "Evening Post.") MASTERTOX, This Day. At the Magistrate's Court at Carterton •yestefday, before Mr. J. Miller, S.M., A. Gray,' farmer, of Parkvale, was charged on the information of Mr. A. T. P. Hubbard. Inspector of Stock, with keeping live rabbits in his possession without a permit. The defendant, through his solicitor, Mr. A. C. Tucker, pleaded guilty, aud was fiited £3, with costs Us. The inspector pointed but that there was a risk, particularly with Chinchilla rabbits, such as those kept by defendant, of the animals escaping if they were not housed in accordance with requirements. If the rabbits escaped the effect of the introduction of fresh blood amongst the ordinary wild rabbits might adversely affect the state of. the rabbit pest throughout the country.
