WIN FOR HUTT
A dour game resulted from the meeting of Hutt and Melrose-Selwyn at the Hutt Recreation Ground. The ball was heavy, and in consequence the game was confined mostly to the forwards. Hutt were slightly the better team, and the score, 11-6 in Hutt's favour, was a fair indication o£ the merit of the teams. Hutt had a slight advantage throughout the first spell. Fairly early in the spell, when Hutt's forwards were showing to advantage, Roberts opened Hutt's account with a try. Feeney, who played an outstanding game throughout, scored Hutt's second try after a clever "dummy," McCann converting. The game continued in much the same way, Hutt maintaining the slight advantage they had from the start. MeCann kicked a penalty goal for Hutt, and Melrose.-Selwyn's points came from two penalty kicks by Hedges. Once or twice j Melrose-Selwyn looked like scoring, but their efforts did not meet with success. The-final score was Hutt 11, MelroseSelwyn 6. Mr. A. Hooper was referee. .
