SLANDER ACTION
CLAIM FOR £2500
The case was continued in the Supreme Court this morning in which Reginald Charles Boddie, a sales organiser, of Wellington, is claiming the sum of £2500 for alleged slander, the defendant being James Dickson Sievwright. Tho alleged slanders concern the conduct of the plaintiff in selling or pledging a certain chemical formula to various persons.
Mr. Justice Ostler is heaving the action. Mr. C. Evans Scott is appearing for the plaintiff,1 and Mr. 11. F. O'Leary and Mr. A. B. Sievwright arc representing tho defendant.
The evidence heard this morning was in rebuttal of the evidence given yesterday by tho defendant. His Honour several times questioned the relevancy of the evidence. Several witnesses gave evidence to the effect that they had always found Boddie quite straightforward in his dealings with them as selling'agents of the chemical preparation.
Tho hearing was unfinished at the time of going to press today, and his Honour intimated thai; if the case was not finished tomorrow he would sit on Saturday.
A fractured right ankle was sustained by William Curgenvcn, aged 17, of Home Street, when a bicycle he was riding skidded at tho intersection of Cuba and Vivian Streets at about 8 o'clock this morning and collided with a motor-car. Ho was removed to hospital in a private cur. ..^ .'.
