U.S. TRADE COMMISSION

CLOSING DOWN IN N.Z

The office of the American Trade Commissioner for New Zealand in 'Wellington is closing down. Mr. Julian Foster, tho Commissioner, and Mrs. Foster, also Mr. West, Assistant Trade Commissioner, will be leaving Now Zealand on July 1 in the Mariposa. Theclosing of tho office is in pursuance of* the United States Government's policy .of economy. The office, of the United States Department of Commerce, to which the Trade Commission is attached, will be closed down in most other cities throughout the world, and tho United States Consulates will discharge the duties.

Mr. Foster came to New Zealand six years ago as first American Trade Commissioner. He married a New Zealand lady, a Miss Lcckie, of Hcretaunga, and has made numerous friends throughout the Dominion who it is believed will be as loath to sever their connection with him as he is to leave New Zeiilaud.
