MUSIC AT ST. PAUL'S.

Beautiful music, was rendered at St.. Paul's Church,. Mulgravo ■ Street, last evening; in the presence of a large congregation. Mr. Robert Parker had arranged a programme of choral, vocal, and instrumental music. Only-rarely is there an opportunity of hearing the violin in conjunction with the organ, and so the items played by Miss Ava ; Symons were especially appreciated. .These included a sonata (Handel), Adagio (Bach), Andanto (Mozart), Prelude (Gustave Jeni sen), and Benedictua (Mackenzie). The vocal solos were Agnus Dei (Mozart) anil "0 lord Most Holy" (Cesar Franck}, sung by Mrs. Alexander and. Miss Molly Atkiiisou respectively. In the Ceear Franck number the organ accompaniment was reinforced. by an obbligato for the violin.; The choir sang two Motets (by Thomas Ford and Christopher Tye), "Goi is a. Spirit" (Sterndale-Beunett),- "Morning Prayer" ■ (Mendelssohn),- and Parry's "Jerusalem" (men's voices). "Sullivan's "Yea Though I Walk" was sung feelingly by a quartet (Misses Houghton- and Edwards and Messrs. Spcers and Cachemaille). During the offertory, which was devoted to an old and valued member elf the choir,-one of the-sonatas of Mendelssohn was played by Miss MacKenzie. The beauty of the music was' enhanced by the tasteful organ accompaniments' played by Mr. Parker.
