AUXILIARY COMMITTEES
Hatisfactoj-y progress is being made' with tho Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association's scheme for,-, tho establishment of auxiliary, committees in tho various suburbs for tho purpose of getting into closer contact with all.retimied men, and lpoking after their welfare.
At a meeting of the association oxocutivo last night Colonel K. S. itcQuarric said that tho Karori cpnimittco was making particularly good headway. Tho major difficulties had been smoothed out, and in hia opinion tho lines on which the committee was operating might well be accepted as a model. Kef erring to the other suburbs, Colonnl McQuarriesaid that last Monday Colonel Cowles and Sir. J. Spenco, thu association's president,and secretary respectively, had attended meetings at Lyall Bay and Kilbirnie. Tho next, step was to call together the returned men iv those districts and appoint a committee. Miramar and other suburbs had taken steps ; t6 hold meetings for the formation.of provisional committees, and it was hoped that when the organisation was well under-.way there would bo ten or twelve committees' functioning in tho suburbs. Colonel Cqwles- expressed appreciation of tho activities of Cplonel McQuarrio and Mr. Spenco, and said h<3 was confident tho auxiliary committees would perform very useful service.
