TO RESTORE CONFIDENCE
WORK OF WORLD CONFERENCE
"There lias just.assembled in London a World Monetary and Economic Conference from which, I sincerely hope, will quickly emerge a plan for world betterment,*' > said Mr. J. T. Grose'at the bank officers' social last night/in a brief reference to .the Conference;
"That plan may have to bo implemented by the great nations; but I feel sure that it would steadily restore confidence; the return of confidence would in itself lead to improved business,' aid that in tura to an. increase in commodity prices. ' ' ~ . "In addition to the readjustment of war debts, which ,1 .hope will soon be separately arranged, as the Conference does not propose to deal with them, many major problems will h'avo to be faced boldly and dealt with. ; It seems to me an international arrangement of. finance and credit is likely to be evolved, including the amelioration of tariff and otherrbarriers to trade." <
