PROBLEM FOR COURT
PRISONER'S IDENTITY.

Mr. Justice Itecd 'on ■ Friday.in the Supremo' Court will be called on" to decide whether a Chincso now in Mt. Eden gaol is Willio Tong.or Tai Sing.
Today the Judge-heard an application for a writ of habeas corpus and granted a rule nisi calling on the gaoler to produce tho body of-Willie Tong at Court on. Friday and to show cause why ho should'bo detained. Last year judgment was obtained against Tai Sing for debt, and in February the Magistrate fixed the penalty in default of payment, at ten days' imprisonment. It is now alleged that the. papers' were- served on Tong, who took no notice of them until, last month when, realising the seriousness of the position, he applied for a rehearing. This was refused by the Magistrate on the ground that judgment had been obtained against Tai Sing. On Monday the Chinese who claims to, bo Tong was imprisoned.
