LOCAL BODY SCHEDULE
SUBMITTED TO MINISTER
A deputation representing local bodies in the Wellington district interviewed the Minister of Employment (the Hon. A. Hamilton) yesterday and placed before him a list of proposed works agreed upon at a recent conference of local bodies. Tho list is as follows: — Wellington City Council.—Planting at Ivaitoke; improvements to alignments and regrading of the Old Porirua Road; Wadestown-Ngaio Road, as a new outlet to Wellington to link j up with . the Khaiulallah-Johusouville j Road-., - ■ Lower Hutt Borough 'Councils—Now road Khandallah to Johnsouville j (landowners will .give up the necessary land). Ilutt Council Council. —(1) Formation, and construction of 90 .chains of road to connect Pareinata1 Bridge with Plimmerton in' .view of new traffic bridge being built at later date. The land for this road has already been donated. Road 'to be continued later to Pukerua Bay , ahrl perhaps to I'aekakariki. (2) Further widening, of Western Hutt Road to Haywards from Moiling and continuation of. Western Hutt Road north of present terminus at Haywards, and construction of new road and bridge over Hutt River to link up with Main East Road at Silverstream. Petono Borough Council.—Road extensions, Horokiwi and Korokoro. Now under construction. Work to bo continued; tree-planting of tho Harbour and Hutt Valley hills. Makara County Council.—Proposed new stock route from Johnsonville to City Abattoirs., . . . The Minister undertook to have the works investigated by officers of the Public Works Department.
