, MONTH'S WORK
A meeting of the executive committee of the Wellington War Belief Association was held today. There were present Messrs. C. M. Luke- (in the chair), G. Shirtcliffe, C. Watson, G. Mitchell, D. McLaren, H. B. BurdeIcin, and A. O. Leach, secretary. The chairman stated that during the past month the emergency committee had dealt with 127 claims, all of which were confirmed by the applications committee, and disposed of 267 applications, of which. 34 were claims from those who had not previously approached the fund. There were 105 applications still under action. The total number of claims received amounted to 372. There had been no alteration in tho general activities of the committee; assistance, differing widely in description, had been given partially to disabled soldiers, to men who were discharged fit and subsequently developed a war disability, and to widowed mothers and widows of soldiers who fell in action. Assistance had also been given to many others in necessitous circumstances. Tho finance committee dealt with five applications for loans.
