New Zealand's Rugby visitors this season will be a combination of players from tho Melbourne and -Sydney universities, and their tour of, tho ( Dominion should add materially tb the attractiveness of a season in which Now Zealand will be without international engagements. Early reports indicatod that a good team would bo available for tho tour, and these are bornns out by the selection of the team, as well as by the records of the players. The tourists left Sydney by the Maunganui oji Thursday, and arc due at, Wellington on Monday morning. Their playing engagements in New Zealand commence at Auckland on AYednesday with, a match against tho Auckland University fifteen. This will be followed next Saturday with the first Test against tho New Zealand university representatives, and for thia match Mr. J. N. Millard has chosen, a side which should put tho visitors to a very severe Test, Unfortunately, Wellington is not to have a Test, but on Wednesday week there will bo the opportunity of seeing the tOTirists in action against the Victoria College first fifteen. Those closely connected with football in the Austra-lian-1 universities, hold out good hopes of the team, acquitting itself well on the tour. "This team," said the manager (Mr.-J. P. Gunther), "is probably the .strongest we have sent across since 3.922, and I am sure it will do you and ourselves great credit." R.-Ramsay Age 20, height :6ft, weight 12.10* ■He is the-most'pro-mising centre we have had at Sydney University for some time, and is definitely a potential State player. lie is an excellent all-round sport, having represented his college in rowing, cricket, shooting, tennis, football, and holds the present Sydney University record for disc hurling. He is splendid in all departments of play, particularly strong in attack. ''. D. P. Kowe (centre): Age 22, heigkt sft llin, weight list 61b. He has nowbeen in and out of the first-grade toam of the Sydney University for three years. On occasions he is brilliant in attack, and he. is splendid in positional play. C. Lowndes (five-eighth): Age 22, height sft 9in, weight lOse 101b. Ho must be playing splendid football as is evidenced by his inclusion in the Victorian State team to play the Sonth African tourists. H. Rees (five-eighth): Age 22, height sft llin, weight 12st 31b. It was only at the last moment that he was able to make the trip, although he would be one of the first selected. Newspapers predict him as N.S.W. five-eighth this season. He is young, with any amount of pace, and a good tackier. '' He has great penetrative powers. McShane, and he is expected to give great service from the base... J. Champain (half): Age 22, height Sft Bin, weight lOst 61b. He is a good half and has had sound experience. ABOUT THE FOEWAEDS. A. W. Robertson: Age. 23, height 6ft 2in, weight 15st. He played in the last Australian Universities' team in New Zealand. He represented Sydney in the last inter-Varsity Carnival in Brisbane. It is expected that tho experience he will gain in New Zealand will improve his play to make him one iof the best locks in N.S.W. He was a member of the winning inter-Vars-ity eight in 1931, which some critics advocated should have been sent to the Olympic Games. R. D. Booth: Age 22, height 6ft lin, 13st lib. He is a, splendid type of forward and has beori a member of his university team for three seasons. He excels in line-out work and is considered to have great chances of gaining State representation this season. He is the present shot putt champion of the university. He has represented his college in cricket, tennis, athletics, and football, and was a member of the inter-Varsity team, in Melbourne in 1931, and of the 'Varsity toam in Brisbane in 1932. He played in the combined 'Varsity teams ,; against the State teams in vboth cities. ... , „ A. F. Me William: Age', 22, height, 6ft, weight 13st. 'He is a fresher this season, but quickly;,won Vhisrplace in the first grade. He is a hard tackier and Tucker, and »i» showing marked ability in the .liirc-out. Ho is a splendid rake, and was a member of tho last inter-Varsity team in Brisbane. When he plaj red in the' combined Australian Universities' team he broke even with E. Bonis, Australia's representative rake playing for Queensland. H. Bond: Age 22, height sft lOin, weight 12st 21b. He is a front tow forward of great promise, and was a member, of the inter-Varsity team in Melbourne in 1931. K. Harris: Ago 22, height 6ft, weight list 121b. He is a good hard tackling breakaway and an excellent handler. This is his second season in the Sydney University team. He makes a good substitute' backi L. Elias: Ago 23, height sft lOiri, weight 12st 5,1b. He is a hard rucker and a player of wide experience, having been in his1: university team for five seasons.
