Miss Eila Bristow, Karori, who has been the guest of Mrs. Michael Gordon, Hawke's Bay, has returned to Wellington. Mrs. T. McKibbin, Tinakori Eoad, is visiting her mother, Mrs. P. W. Fairclough, Chiistohurch. Miss. Sheila Hudson will leave Wellington on Monday for Hawke's Bay, where she will be the guest of Mrs. T. H. Lowry, "Okawa." Miss Nancy Gardner, Christchurch, who has been the, guest of Mrs. Julian Foster, Tinakori Eoad, will leave ' on Monday to stay with Miss Gwladys Gaisford, Dannevirke. Mrs. Mawley has returned to Wellington after a holiday spent in the Wairarapa. Mrs. Ken Mason, Karori, will leave this evening for Christchurch, en route to Dunedin, where she will attend the marriage of her sister, Miss Margaret Eeid, to Mr. Lan Maeßean Stewart, of Christchurch. ' Miss Diana Allen, Fendalton, Christchurch, left Wellington yesterday by the Eangitata for England. Miss Dorothy Loughnan, Fendalton, Christehurch, is the guest of Mrs. K. C. Addison, Kelburn, for a few weeks. Mrs. N. McNair Thomson, Levin, is paying a visit to her mother, Mrs. T. Tracey, Willis Street, Wellington. Mrs. Mark Armstrong, Christchurch, left Wellington yesterday by the Eangitata for England. The Misses Gwen and Koa Day, New Plymouth, are the guests \of their sister, Mrs. B. Lattey, Wellington. Miss Menzies, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. T. B. Eichards,. Christchurch. Mrs. G. W. Patterson has returned to Christehurch after a holiday spent in Wellington as . the guest of her son, Mr. George Patterson. . Miss H. Morton is a Wellington visitor to Auckland. Mrs. G. Prankerd, Wellington, is visiting Auckland. Mrs. G. Webb has returned to Wellington after spending three months in Auckland and the King Country. Mrs. Milieu Macbeth, Mount Street, is visiting her mother, Mrs. T. B. Eichards, Fendalton, ChristchuTch. Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Smith and Miss Mavis Smith, Christchurch, will leave Wellington this week for Sydney, where they will spend a holiday. Miss Violet E. D. Thomson, M.A., of Wellington, has been appointed by the Marlborough College Board to the teaching staff of the intermediate department. Mrs. H. E. Sellars, Wellington, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Pollock, Christehurch. Miss Eva Barrett, who has been visiting her uncle, Mr. John Barrett, has returned to Christchurch. Appreciation of the work of Miss B. D. Wilkie, who has resigned her position on the office staff of the Upper Hutt Borough Council because of her approaching marriage, was contained in a resolution passed by the council last night. The council extended hex its best wishes for the future. Mrs. Frank MeadowcToft, Mrs. Cameron Owen, and Miss Cunningham will leave Wellington on Thursday next, en route to Colombo, where Mrs. Meadow•croft will visit her daughter, Mrs. Pearson. ~ • Among the guests at the Eoyal Oak Hotel are Mrs. Eussel, Master D. Bussel, Miss E. MeKelvie, and Miss V. Scotf (Eongotea), and Mrs. E. B. Moore (Nelson). Miss E. J. Young, president of the New Zealand Trained Nurses' Association, left yesterday to attend the congress of the International Council of Nurses, to be held in Paris and.Brussels. The League of Bed Cross Societies, has taken advantage of the congress to call a meeting of the Nursing Advisory Committee of the League of Eea Cross Societies at league headquarters on June 30, July 1 and 3, and the New Zealand Bed Cross Society will be represented at this meeting by Miss E. J Young. One of the points to be discussed will be "the role of the nurse and voluntary aid in disaster relief." Miss Young carries letters or introduction to Bed Cross societies in France, Belgium, England, „ Norway, and Italy, and, if time allows, she hopes to avail herself of the opportunity to acquire extra knowledge, regarding the work of the Bed Cross Society in these countries.
