DISARMAMENT
GERMANY AT GENEVA
WOULD AMEND CONVENTION
CLAIM TO EQUALITY
(British Official Wireless.) (.Received May 6, 11 a.m.) BUGBY, May 5. German amendments to the British Draft Convention 'now before tho Disarmament Conference, published at Geneva this afternoon, demand a recognition of the right of Germany to equality of armaments in event of no further reduction in the arms of other Powers; also tho abolition of fcubmarinea and of naval and military aircraft. The hope is expressed that a reduction iv the naval armaments of big naval Powers will be brought about by 1935, failing which Germany will demand equality with other nations. In tho meantime, Germany Will keep her arms within the limits of tho Versailles Treaty. The Bureau will discuss the German amendment on Monday; ; v v, ■' ' Captain Anthony Eden, "Undor-Secre-tary f^ir Foreign Affairs, returned to London from Geneva this morning and conferred with Ministers on the present position of the Disarmament Conference, at which he is chief British delegate. Ho rotnrns to Geneva on Sunday. Mr. Norman Davis, the United States delegate to the Conference, held conversations with tho Prime Minister today, and will return to Geneva with Captain Eden.
