-Eight of the candidates who were nominated by' the Civic League and Ratepayers? Association gained seats on the Wellington. Hospital Board, the remaining six city seats, being filled, as the count is at present, by five Labour candidates, and one independent. Thero are no%v. seven lady members on the boarll, Mesdames Eraser, Chapman, Scinpie, McVicar, Preston, and Snow, and Miss Kane, a higher proportion than, has been reached in the past, and Mrs. Fraser topped the. poll with a margin of over 100 votes over Air. F. Castle, chairman of iSie old board. ' This year Mr. C. M. Liiko, who has given very long service, indeed as a member of the /board,' decided not to contest a scat,/as also did Mr. A. T. Markman. Mr. W. Colo is defeated in tho first count, being in nineteenth place, and Mr. J. H. Helliwell, who has given long Hospital Board service, is today shown as mi fifteenth place, but the margin between the votes counted for Mrs. S. E; 0. Snow (Labour) and for Mr. Helliwell is so small that there can be no certainty until the check is made, possibly late this afternoon. As iii the City Council election the number of informal votes was exceedingly high, and there are also many de--claration votes to be taken into account. . .' . ... .
