A high average was maintained by other members. Owing to the Easter Show being in progress, entrance on Wednesday must bo made by the top gate, where a member of tho club will bo iv attendance to distribute passes. HARBOUR BOARD CLUB. The Harbour Board Club commenced tho 10:; a season last week. ■ Among those who attended were Messrs. A. C. Baniett -(patron), E. D. Alexander (president), J. E. Gamble (vice-president), Cnptain Davlson (who was recently elected a life member), and members of tho Port Nicholson Ladies' Club, to whom a hearty welcome was extended. After the ilvst shots of the season were fired by Messrs. A. G. Barnett. E. D. Alexander, J. E. Gamble, and Captain Dawson, teams were selected by them. Top scores wore registered by J. Atkins (possible), DO; W. Philpott, 49; and L. M. Kush, 49. Miss Spencer won tho prizo for iiphest ladies' score, 40. The report of tlio annual meeting will appear next week. KARORI CLUB. The Karorl Club held a practice shoot last Thursday. It was well attended. The top score was put on by Mr. Haase (69), and the following each scored 68: Messrs. H. C. Boon. I'leld, Jcssep, McDonald, and Osbornc. The range will be open for practico again next Thursday. Passes for admission may be had from one of the club members stationed at tho gates. LOWER HUTT CLUB. The Lower Hutt Club held its annual nieetlnc on April 3. Mr. H. Y. Caldwcll was in the chair. Fifteen members were present and (luring the evening nine new members were elected. Veitch; handionpper, Mr. P. 1!. Goldßnch;. target adjudicator, Mr. C. Mac Donald; Press reporter, Mr. I). Yntes. It was decided that tho ranco be open for practico from Monday, April 10. Club competitions during last season were keenly contested. The club championship series resulted in a win for Mr. L. Hnrc. Tho I) grade championship was won by Mr. C. Bird, a first-year shot. Tho Strand Cup was won tiy Mr. S. Murray, another first-year shot, with n promising future. For tho highest aggregate scorn in the A grade intorclub matches, the Hare Cup and miniature was again won by ?.ir. L. Hare. The Morris Cup and miniature for the highest and aggregate score in tho intermediate grade was won by Mr. O. Churcher. Tho C grade interclub aggregate was won by Mr. C. Bird, who received the O. Thing Memorial Cup and miniature. The Witcombe and f'aldwell Cup and miniature was won by Mr. F. W. Chins, after an editing finish, right up to the last shot fired. Messrs. 11. T. f'aldwell and .1. A. McHolm won the B and ■ C grade Morris Cups respectively. Tha two monthly competitions in B grndc were won ■by Messrs. .T. W. McHolm and K. Gittings. P.W.M.C. LADIES' CLUB. The Petono Working Men's Club Ladies' Club held its official opening on April 4, when a most enjoyable evening was spent. Mrs. Emmett, club captain, presided, and there was a largo gathering of both visitors and members. Mrs. Emmett welcomed the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie. Mr. McKeuzie fired the first shot and wished tho club a successful season. A seven-shot match between the ladies and mcv resulted in a win for the ladies, the scores reading: Ladies, 70S; men. 693 Mr. Koran won tho trophy given by tho ladies, and Mr. Trower tho consolation. Cards were played and a dainty supper was provided Mrs. Emmett extended a hearty Si to tho visitors. Mr. F. Kershaw (FAVM.C.)-, who responded, handed to Mrs. Emmett it cup donated by Mr. Dawson, V cocaptain of tho P.W.M.C, to be shot for during tho season. Three hearty cheers were given for Mrs. May (Hutt Valley Ladies), Mr. F Kershaw (P.W.M.C). and Mrs. S. Henderson, for trophies for the coming season. PUBLIC SERVICE CLUB.
