PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Petone Borough Council met last night. The Mayor (Mr. D. Mclveuzie presided, and there were also present Councillors V. A. Noble, J. W. Longman, V. E. Jarobson. H. A. Ryder. A. Scholefield, E. T. E. Hogg. R. W. Toomath, J. C. Burns, and C. P. Brockelbank. A request from the Wellington Rugby Football League for a lease of Mcliwan Park for five years was referred to tlie Reserves Committee. Permission was granted the Petone Association Football Club to install gas m its pavilion on the Recreation Ground. The Hutt Valley Amateur Road Cycling Club and the Port Nicholson Amateur Road Cycling Club were given permits to hold road cycle races in the borough. Gratification was expressed in a letter from the Korokoro Progressive Association at the improvement made in the local water pressure and the promptness with which the work .was done. The Mayor is to act with Mr. \V alter Nasli, M.P., in an endeavour to obtain from the Internal Affairs Department bunting and coloured lights.for decoratincr Jackson Street on tho occasion of the celebration of the Petone Central School jubilee at Easter. Permits for buildings to the value of £9b'a were issued in March, according to the report of the borough engineer (Mr. C. L Jackson). The borough inspector (Mr. W. B. Gough) reported that in March two cases of infantile paralysis, one, of pulmonary tuberculosis, and one of diphtheria were notified.
