I GIRLS' COLLEGE EVENT
Visitors to Wellington East Girls' College yesterday afternoon, witnessed an excellent programme of sports, and many also took tho opportunity of inspecting the recent improvements to the grounds. During tho past few years the- college grounds have been transformed from, a bai'e hillside-iuto wolloquipped playing fields, and the bright sunshine of yesterday afternoon attracted many parents and friends to the sports meeting. The hillside formed a-natural "grandstand" for the schoolgirl supporters, and benches were placed round the field for visitors. Ico creams out of doors were very popular, and tea was served in tho college. Miss Batham (principal of the college) woro a suit of tabac brown lainage with touches of, canary yellow, a brown straw hat and a stone-marten fur. Among the visitors wcro Miss V. M. Greig (principal cf Wellington Girls' College), Mrs. T. B. Strong, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Armour, Mr. and Mrs. P. Fraser, Mr. W. H. Dcnton, Mrs. Lancaster, Miss Lorimer, Eev..Mr. Eobertshavv, Mr. and Mrs. McPhcc, and Mrs. -Dall. ,
