ELLERSLIE TRACK WORK
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Beautiful weather prevailed for training work at Ellerslie this morning. The course proper, with' poles 45 feet out from the rails, and. the No. 3 grass track woro used for fast work. The going was excellent, but thero were no particularly fast gallops. ON COURSE PROPER. Muff was the first out, \being sent sis furlongs, the first two in 27see and the full distance in lmin 20 3-ssec. This was a useful gallop, as sho carried nearly 9.0. 1 Euling King ran half a mile in 54 3-ssec. He carried a good weight and went comfortably throughout. Wee Pat and Master Brierly were allotted a inilo, Kilmuir assisting them over tho last six furlongs. They ran the first half-mile in 54sec and tho full distance ia lmin 47 l-ssec. .The first: named pair wore together at tho finish, with Kilmuir several lengths back. Silver Scorn, ridden by D. O'Connor, was sent a. mile from the old post, and sho ran. tho first furlong in 14 2-ssec, two furlongs in 26 2-ssec, threo furlongs in 40sec, half a mile in 53 1-5 sec, five furlongs in lmin 5 2-ssec, and the full distance in. lmin 46sec. She did her work in good style, and was not doing her best at any part., .- ■ • Tho best effort of the morning over six furlongs was registered by Deputy Kuler and Manawhentm in lmin 18 3-ssec. There was nothing between them at the finish, but Deputy Buler, who had tho inside running, appeared to be going the better at the ond. Psychologist, after beginning smartly and running tho first half-milo in 50 2-ssec, completed a mile in lmin 46 l-ssee. Owing to tho fast early pace he was steadying up at the finish. The hurdler, Princo. of Orange, worked alone over a round, which he covered in 3ra'in 13 4-ssee. Ho finished on ■well. .. King Mostor and Supremo Huler were not doing their best to complcto half a mile in 54 2-ssec. The southern two-year-old, Catalogue, was given an easy six furlongs in lmin 28 2-ssec. fi^M fipok was going easily Mssige
Mahkill,with" TahaoMea beaten- off, at the finish of sixv furlongs iv lmin ID 2-ssec. They went fast over the early part, running the first three furlongs in 37 3-ssec.
Tho Champagne Stakes candidate, Princess Doreen, had Inflation as a companion over five furlongs, and boat him by over six lengths. She ran the first two furlongs in 25 3-ssec, and completed tho trip in lmin 4 2-ssec. She did her work impressively, but Inflation disappointed.
Sunny Sky was sent six furlongs > in company with Merry Damon, being timed to ruii the first three furlongs in 40sec, and the full distance in lmin 21 2-ssee. Sunny Sky was going', well within herself at tho finish. Merry Damon worked lazily.
The Gisborne pair, Aiguille and Lordly Knight, trotted and cantered on the sand track. Aiguille' experienced a rough trip on the steamer from Gisborne arid got down during tho trip, injuring his hock, which is much enlarged. His starting 171 the Easter Handicap depends on the progress he makes during tho next two days. Lordly Knight looks in first-class condition, and is expected to run a great race in, the -Easter, but so far no rider has been engaged for him. Midian'was scratched for all engagements at 9 a.m., today. ,
