CIVIC ELECTIONS

APPOINTMENT, OF POLL CLERKS

At a meeting of the Labour Representation Committee the following resolution was carried unanimously:— "That this committee is of opinion that when engaging poll clerks and other workers for polling booths for the forthcoming municipal elections, preference should be given to relief workers, ns thcro are men on relief work well qualified to perform this particular class of work. The practice yf giving this work to mcv and women who are occupying highly-remunerative positions is wrong in principle. Every encouragement should bo given to any scheme "to assist relief workers during these depressing times."
