Claudine, winner of the Royal Handicap , Hurdle Race at Windsor (England) on February 16, is the daughter of a French mare and began her racing career on the Continent. In this event, she was ridden by G. Peller'in, a jockey who is of Belgian extraction. When the owner, Mrs. C. Evans, was giving Pellerin his final instructions she smiled and told him if he had occasion to urge his mount on in the course- of the race to speak.to her in French.
