ATTACK ON MOTORIST
A MARROW ESCAPE

A sensatio.il has been caused at Upokongaro '.by two rifle shots having been fired at the car of Mr. J. Higgins, a well-known settler, when he was returning from .Parakino, on the Wanganui River Road, shortly after midnight on Sunday incoming. The shots were fired at a benil near Pungaraehu, and both passed thorough the windscreen, drilling holes about a quarter of an inch apart, and missing Mr. Higgins by a fraction of an. inch.
It is thought that robbery was the motive, but that the highwayman intended to get a Wanganui tradesman who is known,to farry substantial sums of money and who passes along the road at all hours of the night.
