WASHINGTON, March 16,
Mr. Norman H. Davis, of Tennessee, an experienced diplomat; has been named chairman, of the United States delegation to the Disarmament Conference with the rank of Ambassador. His elevation to the chairmanship is said by State Department officials to mean primarily that the Government is taking all due steps to perform its full share of responsibility with relation to the Conference.
* Mr. Davis -sails in tho middle of next week.
Imminent action on the world disarmament problem appeared in prospect on Thursday as President Eoosevelt conferred in quick succession with the Ambassadors of Britain, France, and Germany, and his own Secrotary of State and Mr. Norman Davis.
Sir Ronald Lindsay was first to call. Ho said that he had reported the new British plans submitted at Geneva.
