FUNCTION AT TE HORO
The Te Horo Women's Institute also celebrated its second birthday recently and a large number of members and guests were welcomed by Mrs. Black (president). The hall was beautifully decorated in pale pink and blue, paper roses being mingled with, clumps of fernery along the centre of the hall and around the stage. In one •corner, the Arts ana Crafts stSll (under the charge of Mesdames Signal and Empspn) displayed a great number of cleveriy made articles of every description. These had been made and exhibited by members.
Items were given by Miss Kirker, Misses Avery and Eolfe, Mrs. Jenkins, Mrs. "White-Scott, Mrs. Fiebig, Miss K. Sawyer, Mrs. Spiers, and the younger members of the Institute (under the guidance of Mrs. Ficbig) who performed a one-act play, "Mary's Dismissal," The secretary read messages conveying good wishes from Mrs. Kelso, Dr. Atmore, Mrs. Atkins, and others. Speeches were made by Miss Maddever and by presidents of neighbouring institutes, and Mrs. Black thanked all who had helped throughout the year. Tea was served, during which tho birthday o.ake, made and donated by Mrs. J. Ashdown, was cut and handed round. The singing of tho Institute song and a social half-hour concluded an enjoyable 'afternoon.
