ADELAIDE, March 14. The final match of the English cricket team's tour, against South Australia, ended today in a draw." England declared their second innings closed at the overnight score, eight for 371, leaving South Australia -478 in arrears. • Bichardson and Nitschko began vigorously. They scored 50 in the first half hour, 27 being scored in three overs. Nitschko when 24 hit a crisp sixer. Bowes .had five men on the leg side. Nitschke then became subdued and was out leg-before to Mitchell. ' Tobm did some hard hitting, getting a sixer off Verity. Playing carefully, Tobiu reached 32 and in, attempting to pull Voce deflected the ball to his head. The impact was of sufficient force to send the batsmau prostrate with a nasty cut under an eye. Ambulance men assisted Tobin off the field.
The remainder of the batsmen concentrated on a draw.
Williams played a delightful 23, showing great confidence and much promise for the future.
Tobin, with Jiis eye partly closed, pluckily resumed and went to 52, malting crisp shots.
Jardine bowled at 300. Grimmett cover-drove him for four. Tobin also got two fours by beautiful strokes. Bichardson gives a denial to an English report that South Australia employed ( bodyline tactics. He said that Williams sent down a few bumper.v but no leg trap was pet. There were only two fieldsmen behind on the leg side of the wicket and- the field was no different to the ordinary Australian leg theory.
