PLEASANT WEATHER
AUTUMNAL TOUCH
Decidedly pleasant autumnal weather is at present prevailing over the Dominion, and, according to today's forecast, is likely to continue. Light to moderate southerly -winds may be expected at first north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura. Elsewhere winds will be northerly, arid northerlies will gradually extend over the greater part of the Dominion. Pair to fine weather is 1 likely to be general, although, light showers may develop later in Westland and about Foveaux Strait. . With the approach, of an anticyclone winds last night became southerly in direction, but were- only moderate in force. Fine-weather, but with a fall in temperatures, has continued practically general, only a few isolated showers having fallen on the East Coast of the North Island. By this morning southward of Greymouth and Christchurch winds had become northerly again owing to the approach of a-.slight depression from over the Tasman Sea. ' The weather in Auckland yesterday was fine with a moderate southerly wind. - Wellington enjoyed a brilliantly fine and warm day. During the evening the light, northwesterly breeze which had prevailed during the day gave place to a southerly, but although skies clouded over no rain fell. By 9 a.m.' today/ the sky had cleared again and there was bright sunshine. Yesterday in Ghristchureh the weather was. mostly fine and sunny, but about 4 p.m. a strong scmth-westerly sprang up. Conditions became 'dull and threatening, but no rain accompanied the change; ..> A southerly breeze prevailed in Dunedin yesterday, the morning being dull and the afternoon sunng.
