ROYAL BENGAL FIT

NEW PLYMOUTH NOTES

(Special from "Hurry On.") NEW PLYMOUTH, March 14. The New Plymouth tracks still continue to be.dry and fast, and all the work is taking place on the plough. ■With tho exception of Eoyal Bengal, who goes to Trentham, -all the local horses will be racing at Opunake, on Friday. • " .

Arvada went very nicely over five furlongs in Imin 3sec this morning, moving very freely all the way.

Royal Bengal and Lucky Alice -were sent a mile and a quarter at a good swinging three-quarter pace, the last mile taking linin. 47sec. Royal Bengal was in front at -the .finish. He is in splendid order, and. is. expected to go a good race in the Thompson Handicap. Lucky Alice is one of the favourites for tho Opunake Cup, and she certainly looks a much improved mare.

Refresher, Headmistress, and Amyril w;ere restricted to ' steady pace work. Refresher is very .well, and is likely to start favourite in the St. Patrick's Handicap on Friday.

Morry Way and Glowlight both went attractively over six furlongs in Imin 17scc. The first half-mile took olsec, and they were both running on strongly at the finish. Glowlight will be ridden by J. M. Pino at Opunake, and Merry Way by J. Leach.

Lady Quex went twice round at an easy gait, and sprinted home over the last two furlongs in 25sec.

Mrs. W. D. Graham has completed the purchase of the rising two-year-old colt by Lord Quex from Shrill from his 'breeder, Mr. John Gleeson. This youngster, who is a half-brother to Father's Voice, and High. Pitch, is a particularly fine specimen who should come early.
