PLIMMERTON GATHERING
A most successful and representative gathering- took place at the Church Hall, Plimmerton, recently,- when the annual meeting of the local branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society was held. Mr. J. T. Burrell, of Palmerston North, prosided. 'Mrs. Porter expressed appreciation of the excellent support the district gave to tho Bible Society, also paying a tribute to the work; of Sister Maud. The speaker outlined' the wonderful growth of the society, and referred to the immense amount of work which lay behind the translation of the Bible into 655 languages. Mr. Burrell^ spoke upon the worldwide circulation, giving many interesting details. The ladies dispensed a dainty aftornoon . *tea, during a. pleasant time was spent in discussing the "work. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the hostesses, also Mrs. Swainson for arranging for the deputation. I • The election of officers- resulted as follows:—President, Mrs. Swainson; secretary, Sister Maud; committee, Mrs. Bilton, Misses Cooper, Bilton Mary Bilton, and Langdon.
